Position Title: Firefighter / Paramedic
Per the current collective bargaining agreement:
Salary Information: Starting pay $80,918 increasing to $82,850 after 12-month probation and topping out at $136,403.

13 Kelly days (shifts off) from day one
PTO/Sick bank up to 600 hours accumulated

Job Requirements:
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
Driver's License: Must possess a valid Driver's License at the time of application and MUST have or be able to obtain an Illinois Class B non-CDL Driver's License.
Age Requirement: Applicants MUST have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (8/1/25). Applicants must be under the age of 35 years at the time of testing (8/1/25) unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a firefighter in a regularly constituted fire department of any municipality or fire protection district located in Illinois.
Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate, or High School Proficiency Statement.
Character: Must be of good moral character and must be physically and psychologically suitable to perform the duties of Firefighter/Paramedic, both at the time of application and at the time of appointment.
EMT-P CERTIFICATION: At the time of application, must be certified as an EMT-P by the State of Illinois or Nationally Registered EMT-P OR are currently enrolled in a paramedic program approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health and have a letter of good standing from the program director or lead instructor. At time of hire, must be certified as an EMT-P by the State of Illinois or a Nationally Registered EMT-P.
Residence: All full-time sworn personnel shall, within one hundred and eighty (180) days of the successful completion of their probationary period, as a term of condition of continued employment, reside within the boundaries of: bounded on the north and east by the Illinois state line, on the west by Interstate I-39/US Route 51, and on the south by Interstate 80.
*CPAT Card: Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Certification with Ladder Climb Exercise at the time of application, MUST have been issued within the last 12 months.
